Be Clear on the Need

Is the Need Unmet

One of the things I love about working with nonprofit organizations is the passion and care people have for what they do. It gives oomph and energy. It is heartwarming and motivating and totally infectious.

It can lead to massive impact on social causes. Massive change.

And yet at the same time, the very passion which is such a joy can also lead to the risk of moving too fast, not considering all options, becoming carried away or set on a particular solution.

It can mean that the real need is met in a suboptimal way, or even not at all.

Just as in a business, it is critical to establish the need upfront and not to make assumptions about the best solution.

So when starting on a new project or initiative, consider the following approach:
